Emilio Balius, O.D. is a board-certified optometrist and is the clinic director at Aran Eye Associates. Dr. Balius completed his bachelor’s degree in Science at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. He graduated from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas with his doctor's degree in optometry. Dr. Balius completed his residency in hospital-based optometry at the Baltimore VA Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He has been practicing at Aran Eye Associates since 1993 and previously practiced at Bascom Eye Institute as a staff optometrist. He is a licensed optometrist for the state of Florida, Georgia, and Texas.
Dr. Aura Zambrano earned her Bachelor of Science degree from St. Thomas University in 2007 where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the St. Thomas University Award in Science for her work in a project in conjunction with The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. She received her optometric training at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry with honors in 2012 and was awarded the Southern Council of Optometry Award for Clinical Excellence.
Dr. Jessica E. Rodriguez was born and raised in Miami, FL. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. She then pursued her Doctorate of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois, where she graduated with honors in 2013.
Dr. Steve Newman combines his knowledge as an optometric physician, certified personal trainer and board-certified nutrition specialist to educate his patients and the public on the importance of a healthy lifestyle. With more than twenty five years in the health profession, Dr. Newman has advised and guided thousands of patients with information needed to make the right choices when it comes to health, medicine, surgery, nutrition, supplements and overall well being.
Lisbet Abrante, O.D. attained her Bachelor of Science in Integrated Biology at University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida and went to Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, NSUCO, in Davie, Florida where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Vision Science. She graduated with optometric training at Nova Southeastern University College in 2013 and completed a residency with emphasis in ocular Disease at NSUCO in 2014.
Dr. Abrante has done volunteer work in Ecuador where she assisted in performing comprehensive exams on over 800 patients. She also volunteered in the Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida where she coordinated activities for the child patients, supervised the children throughout their activities and translated documents for Spanish speaking families.
Dr. Arturo Ramos, O.D., M.D., M.S. is a board certified optometrist in the United States. Dr. Ramos received his doctor of optometry degree from New England College of Optometry in Boston Massachusetts. Prior to graduating from Optometry he completed a residency training as a specialist in ophthalmology in the Department of Ophthalmology San Carlos Hospital, University of Madrid, Madrid Spain. Dr. Ramos received his medical surgeon degree from CENTRAL University of Venezuela in Caracas, Venezuela. He attained a master degree in anterior Pole Disease and surgery at Instituto Barraquer, Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Ramos is also the inventor of the design of Hyperbolic Toroidal mirror for ophthalmic applications. He practiced as an ophthalmologist in Venezuela and moved to the United States where he has practiced as an optometrist in various private practices. Dr. Ramos practices at Leon medical Center as a contracted doctor at Aran Eye Associates.
Dr. Cynthia Hardy, O. D. completed her bachelor of arts degree at The Colorado College, Colorado Springs, CO and went to Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, in Davie, Florida where she graduated with her doctoral degree in optometric training. Dr. Hardy completed a residency in Ocular Disease at Aran Eye Associates where she later practiced for a year. Later Dr. Hardy practiced at different private Optometrist office and returned to practice at Aran Eye Associates in 2016.
Noemi Zubizarreta, O. D. received her Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology/Behavioral Medicine from The University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida and went to The New England College of Optometry, in Boston, Massachusetts where she graduated with her doctoral degree in optometric training in 2005 and later completed a residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Dr. Zubizarreta practice at South Florida Eye Associates for five years and joined Aran Eye Associates in 2014 as a contracted doctor to practice at Leon Medical Center.
Jessica C. Hayward O.D. attained her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. Dr. Hayward went to Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Davie, Florida where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Vision Science and attained her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2008. Dr. Hayward has practiced at various private primary eye care and Ophthalmology practices and has extensive experience in primary & tertiary eye care and ocular disease diagnosis.
Dr. Laura Espinosa, optometrist, graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry in 2012. She continued her education at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, School of Optometry, where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2016. She continued on completing a residency training at the VA Medical Center in Newington, CT where she specialized in ocular diseases (i.e. glaucoma, macular degeneration, traumatic brain injuries, diabetic retinopathy) and primary care. She worked alongside and co-managed many cases with ophthalmology residents of Yale University. During her time of residency, she also worked at a private practice in South Windsor, CT where she fit a variety of contact lenses, including specialty/medically necessary lenses. Following one year of residency, Dr. Espinosa joined the Aran Eye Associates team in 2017.
Dr. Espinosa participated in a vision screening for hundreds of residents in Chiapas, Mexico back in 2015 with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity). She is also an active member of the American Optometric Association and current Vice President of the Miami-Dade Optometric Physicians Association.
Patrisa Tare, O.D. earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies with a minor in Psychology from Florida international University in Miami, Florida. She continued her studies with a Bachelor of Vision Science degree from Nova Southeastern University, Davie, Florida in 2005. Dr. Tare earned her doctorate degree of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University in 2007. She later completed a residency with emphasis in Ocular Disease at Beraja Medical Institute.
